Spring Shifts & New Beginnings

Spring is definitely in the air—can you feel it? Maybe you’ve noticed the bright blooms on your morning walk or the way the sun lingers just a bit longer into the evening. There’s something undeniably energizing about this season. For many, spring feels more like a new year than January ever did—a time of blossoming, new beginnings, and fresh perspectives.

As an Orange County therapist supporting individuals across Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, and virtually throughout California, I’ve been noticing a seasonal shift in the therapy room. Lately, there’s been a consistent theme emerging in my sessions: a call to action. Whether I’m sitting with someone processing postpartum depression, unpacking birth trauma, or navigating a life transition, there's a renewed energy surfacing. Clients are starting to feel a gentle (or sometimes strong) pull toward something new—starting a long-put-off creative project, recommitting to a self-care routine, or even simply allowing themselves to envision a hopeful future.

This shift is subtle but powerful.

As a postpartum therapist and ketamine-assisted therapist, I’ve learned that healing is cyclical. Just as the earth moves through seasons, so do we. Winter often brings contraction, quiet, and introspection. But spring? Spring invites us to breathe deeper, to stretch toward the light, to begin again. For those healing from trauma, managing anxiety, or navigating postpartum anxiety or postpartum depression, this season can feel like a doorway cracking open—offering a glimpse of what’s possible on the other side of pain.

What’s also fascinating is how this seasonal energy doesn’t seem to impact just one person—it weaves its way into many of my sessions, no matter the specific reason someone is seeking therapy. Whether you're a new parent adjusting to the challenges of postpartum life or someone working through deep emotional pain, this time of year can provide just enough momentum to take that next step.

If you’re feeling that gentle nudge toward growth or change, notice it. Be curious about it. Spring might be the perfect time to begin therapy—or to revisit your healing journey with fresh eyes.

If you're looking for support, I offer therapy in person as a Newport Beach and Costa Mesa therapist, as well as virtually throughout California. My areas of focus include postpartum mental health, birth trauma, anxiety, life transitions, and ketamine-assisted therapy for deeper healing.

Spring is a reminder: healing doesn’t have to be rushed. But when you're ready to grow, the season will meet you there.
